Delta Tutoring

Delta Tutoring

Every tutor is
interviewed. Scored.
Then approved.

Private University Mathematics & Statistics tutoring for University of Pretoria students — every tutor clears a 100-point interview before they’re allowed to teach.

  • One flat rate — R200 an hour, every student and tutor
  • A 100-point interview before any tutor can teach
  • Pay by EFT, checked against the bank within 24 hours
  • Online, or in person on six UP campuses

Vetted, not vouched for

  • ID & academic record checked

Every tutor proves who they are and which modules they’ve actually passed — before anything else.

  • A real teaching interview

Not “do you know the maths” but “can you teach it” — explaining concepts, working through real student situations, and a written task.

  • Only clear passes get in

Every application is scored independently, and tutors who don’t meet the standard are not approved to teach.

Meet your tutor first — free

Every match starts with a free discovery session. Sit down with the tutor we’ve picked for your modules, see how they explain things, and decide if it’s a fit — before a cent changes hands.

  • A real introductory session

Not a sales call — an actual session with the tutor matched to your course.

  • You choose, then confirm

Only after the discovery session do you confirm the tutor you want to keep working with. Not the right fit? We match you with someone else.

How it works

1

Apply & get matched

Tell us your exact modules. Delta Tutoring matches you with a vetted tutor for that course — no browsing, no guessing.

2

Meet your tutor free, then confirm

Have a free discovery session with the tutor we’ve matched you to. Like how they teach? Confirm them — if not, we match you with someone else.

3

Book & pay by EFT

Request session times with your confirmed tutor, then pay by EFT with a unique reference. An admin checks it against the bank before the session is confirmed.

For Students

  • No more guessing in group chats

Every tutor is document-verified and interview-scored before they can ever appear in search — not just recommended by a stranger on WhatsApp.

  • Pay with confidence

EFT with a unique reference, proof of payment, and admin verification within 24 hours — not a hopeful transfer to someone you’ve never met.

  • Matched to your exact module

Tell us WTW 114 or STK 110, not just “math tutoring” — and we’ll match you with a tutor who actually teaches your course.

  • Protected if plans change

A real cancellation and postponement policy, mediated by an admin — not a silent no-show with no recourse.

For Tutors

  • We bring the students to you

Stop marketing yourself in group chats — get matched directly with students who need your exact modules.

  • Get paid what you’re owed

A fixed, guaranteed rate on Pay-as-you-Go, verified by EFT — no chasing students for money after the session. Full pay details are in your contract once you’re approved.

  • A profile that proves your worth

The same 100-point interview that builds student trust becomes your credibility — not just a photo and a claim.

  • Fair, defined policies

Cancellation and no-show rules protect your time too, with real compensation when a student doesn’t show.

Questions, answered honestly

How much does tutoring cost?

Pay-as-you-Go sessions are a flat R200/hour — the same rate for every student, regardless of year or subject. Premium packages (for students who want ongoing, multi-module support) are also available; pricing for those is confirmed when you apply.

Do I have to commit to a tutor straight away?

No. Every match starts with a free discovery session — an introductory session with the tutor we’ve chosen for your modules. You only confirm a tutor after you’ve met them, and there’s no charge for the discovery session. If it’s not the right fit, we match you with someone else.

How do I pay, and is it safe?

You pay by EFT using a unique reference generated for your booking, then upload proof of payment. An admin verifies it against the bank statement within 24 hours before your booking is confirmed — no session is confirmed on an unverified payment.

What happens if a session gets cancelled?

Either side can request a cancellation. An admin mediates a postponement window (48 hours if you gave 24 hours’ notice, 24 hours if you gave less) — if no postponement is agreed, the other party gets 50% compensation. Genuine no-shows get the other party full compensation, after an admin follows up.

Where do sessions happen?

Online (Google Meet, Zoom, or Teams — whichever you and your tutor agree on), or in person at Hatfield, Groenkloof, Prinshof, Onderstepoort, Hillcrest, or Mamelodi — location is a shared choice between you and your tutor.

How are tutors vetted?

Every tutor submits ID and their full academic record, then sits a structured, scored 100-point interview that tests both subject knowledge and teaching ability — not just “do you know the maths,” but “can you explain it.” Only tutors who clearly pass are approved to tutor.
