Terms & Conditions
Version 0.1, last published 19 August 2026.
These Terms & Conditions govern use of the Delta Tutoring platform by students, tutors, and other users. By registering, you accept these terms.
1. Services
Delta Tutoring connects students at the University of Pretoria (Mathematics & Statistics, with planned expansion to other subjects/institutions) with subject-matched tutors for one-on-one and group academic tutoring.
2. Delta Discovery session
Delta Discovery is a free, 45-minute introductory session for students to assess comfort with a tutor’s teaching style before committing, at no charge.
3. Tutor re-matching
Students may request up to three (3) tutor re-matches. Additional re-matches beyond three may only be granted under unique circumstances, at Delta’s discretion.
4. Payments
Payments are made via EFT to Delta Tutoring’s registered bank account, using your unique payment reference. See the Cancellation Policy and Refund Policy for cancellation- and refund-related terms.
5. Conduct
All users agree to communicate respectfully and to promptly raise any concerns about conduct, progress, or scheduling through the designated channel, rather than resolving disputes informally outside the platform.
6. Dispute resolution process
Submit a complaint (within 24 hours of a business day) → internal review (2–3 business days) → resolution/corrective action (within 2 business days) → escalation, which may include mediation or another external mechanism, if unresolved internally (within 5 business days of an unresolved outcome). Complex matters may extend these timelines; Delta will communicate any material delay.
7. Progress tracking
Student academic progress is tracked using Delta’s SSS Rubric across five indices — Cognitive Effort, Session Engagement, Metacognitive Calibration, Academic Persistence, and Cognitive Mastery — each scored 0–20, rolling into an overall 0–100 score.
8. Independent contractor status
Tutors render services as independent contractors, not employees of Delta Tutoring. See the Tutor Agreement for full terms.
9. Liability
Delta facilitates tutoring services and coordinates students and tutors but does not control every aspect of an independently-conducted session. For in-person sessions, approved locations are online (Google Meet/Zoom/Teams) or University of Pretoria campuses (Hatfield, Groenkloof, Prinshof, Onderstepoort, Hillcrest, Mamelodi); location choice is a shared student/tutor responsibility. Delta does not represent that all risks associated with an in-person session are insured; students and tutors are expected to exercise reasonable care and comply with applicable campus rules. Nothing in these Terms excludes or limits any liability or consumer right that cannot lawfully be excluded or limited under South African law.
10. Privacy
Personal information is processed in accordance with Delta Tutoring’s Privacy Policy and POPIA.
11. Governing law
These Terms are governed by the laws of the Republic of South Africa, with disputes subject to the jurisdiction of the Magistrate’s Court, without prejudice to either party’s right to approach the High Court of South Africa.
12. Changes to these terms
Delta Tutoring may amend these Terms from time to time. Continued use of the platform after changes take effect constitutes acceptance.
